Part Exchange Ensures Smooth Move

David and Julie in their new Thomas Mitchell Home

For the first time, keen bass player David Law has a room especially for his collection of guitars, and a dedicated home office on which he can shut the door at night before relaxing and enjoying life in his new Thomas Mitchell Home.

David, wife Julie and Gunner the terrier have recently moved into a spacious four bedroom detached Edgbaston style villa at Thomas Mitchell Homes' idyllic North Knowe development in the Fife village of Crossgates. Moving from a two bedroom semi on a busy main road in Kirkcaldy, the contrast could hardly be greater with their new village lifestyle of shops, pubs and leisure facilities all in within walking distance.

"We decided a while ago that we wanted to move to somewhere quieter, with more space and ideally to a detached property," explains David, who works for a Leeds-based musical instrument company, selling to retailers throughout Scotland and the North of England. "It had to be somewhere reasonably close to Kirkcaldy where my wife works, so we had a look at a number of developments".

"The quality and vastly superior specification of the Thomas Mitchell Homes really stood out for us, especially when we considered the price. At that point we hadn’t put our house on the market yet, so when they offered us a Part Exchange safety net the whole package became even more attractive."

Reserving their dream home, the Laws went ahead and put their home on the market. When it didn’t sell at the price they were looking for quickly enough, they took up Thomas Mitchell Homes' Part Exchange offer with, as David puts it, everyone winning.

"Although Thomas Mitchell Homes took our existing property for slightly less than we had it on the market for, we ultimately saved on estate agents, surveyors, marketing and lawyers fees," he explains. "We still got what we needed, and were able to move into our new home as soon as it was ready. Plus, Thomas Mitchell Homes got their sale, and a couple of weeks after we moved in our old home sold, with the couple who bought it getting a good deal too."

Spending much of his time working from home, the additional space of the Edgbaston is a real bonus for David. He's also bagged another of the four bedrooms as a home for his collection of guitars. Meanwhile, wife Julie who works in administration at a Kirkcaldy office furniture firm, has been busy completing the interior design of their spacious new home, with only one room still to go less than two months after stepping over the threshold.

North Knowe is a collection of 140 family homes in the quiet village of Crossgates, between Dunfermline and Cowdenbeath. As well as good local village facilities, the development offers an easy commute to Edinburgh and a central location for much of Fife. Prices are from around &poung;175,000 for a spacious three bedroom detached villa with integral garage, with four bedroom detached villas from around £225,000.

North Knowe is one of a number of developments by award-winning Thomas Mitchell Homes throughout Scotland, all offering part exchange on selected plots, as well as Assisted Move and other incentives. Enabling buyers to confidently move up the property ladder, Thomas Mitchell Homes' part exchange package means buyers can save on estate agency fees, move on the agreed entry date (without any worries about arranging temporary accommodation or bridging loans), and enjoy a stress-free dependent sale.

Thomas Mitchell Homes also offers Shared Move and Assisted Move Packages throughout Scotland.
