Modern living doesn’t get much more enjoyable or more practical than it does in Glenrothes.
The town has an interesting mix of modern and traditional housing styles and is set amid wide-open green spaces, with the River Leven running through it. Parks and landscaping in Glenrothes are nationally recognised as outstanding, and the town has won several accolades in the ‘Beautiful Scotland’ and ‘Britain in Bloom’ awards. A unique feature of Glenrothes is a large collection of outdoor sculpture and artworks in public spaces throughout the community.
This bustling town – the administrative capital of Fife – lies roughly halfway between Edinburgh and Dundee on the A92, which links directly to the M90 motorway. Travelling to the capital and its international airport is straightforward, with the Forth Road Bridge just 25 minutes drive to the south. Commuting to Dundee – just 27 miles away – and other towns and cities is similarly straightforward. The main East Coast railway line and the Fife Circle line serve nearby stations.
The Glenrothes population of almost 40,000 is well served by 13 primary and three secondary schools, and is home to a campus of Adam Smith College, the third biggest college in Scotland. St. Andrews University is only 30 minutes drive away. Local amenities include the Kingdom Centre, which offers a wide variety of shops under one roof, the town’s central library, ten pin bowling and the Rothes Halls, an outstanding entertainment and conference venue hosting drama, concerts, children’s shows, art exhibitions, an annual beer festival and more. There are two 18 hole golf courses in Glenrothes, and the Lomond Hills Regional Park fringes the town to the North and East. The beautiful Fife coastline is only minutes away by car.
